Demonstration and Verification of BlueMAX PLUS SCR Emission Control System for Off-Road Applications
| Sub-Grantees: | Nett Technology, INC
|
The objective of the project is to demonstrate and verify a urea-SCR system for retrofitting offroad diesel engines in applications such as construction equipment operating in Texas. The BlueMAX PLUS SCR system proposed by Nett Technologies is a next generation of the BlueMAX SCR system that was developed under N-03. The proposed system has an additional NOx sensor downstream of the SCR catalyst, which enables a more advanced SCR control strategy and improved OBD/driver inducement functionality that is required by the EPA. The system also includes a passively regenerated diesel particulate filter upstream of the SCR catalyst. The system reduces NOx emissions by 60-90% and PM emissions by over 90% and is designed to be non engine specific; it is easily applicable for retrofitting of a wide range of diesel engines in off-road applications.
The project will start with the development and in-house testing of the proposed system prototype for an off-road diesel engine. Following the in-house testing, an ETV verification test plan will be developed and prototype systems will be aged through in-the-field installations on off-road equipment, such as diesel powered construction equipment operating in Texas. Once the required durability period is accumulated, the system will undergo laboratory verification testing.
