This project will build upon the TERC-funded 8-hour ozone conceptual model study (H12.8HRA) to investigate historical changes in background ozone and local contributions from 1998 to 2007.  Using multiple techniques, including predictive stepwise regression, transport pattern analysis, and sea breeze characterization, the analysis will control for meteorological and transport variations on a daily basis and separate out meteorological and chemical contributions to background ozone and local exceedances.  Background ozone will be analyzed separately for the spring and late summer ozone seasons, since the raw background trends differ substantially in the two seasons.  Exceedance days and non-exceedance days will be analyzed separately and in combination.
