A major air quality field porgram, planned for the period extending from April 2005 through October 2006, will examine regional ozone formation, intrastate and interstatedozeone transport, meteorological and chemical modeling, and issues related to highly reactive emissions in Texas. The study will establish the scientific basis for new State Implemientation Plans (SIPs) for ozone, particularly under the new 8-hour federal ozone standard. The study will also support the development of regional haze policies. The five-year project will involve a study team of more than one hundered investigators, multiple gournd measurement sites and multiple aircraft. Field study planning activities have already begun and will continue through September 30, 2004.
